Roselle hibiscus is the source of the red color and sweet and tangy zing of the popular "lemon zinger" tea. Our fresh, succulent, crimson-colored calyces (flower sepals of a variety of hibiscus) make zinger tea with the freshest of flavor and highest nutritional quality, being rich in vitamin C and antioxidants.
For making tea, use the red calyces only, removing the inner white, immature seed pod. Depending on your desired potency, use 2-4 calyces per cup of tea. One pint will therefore yield about 8 cups of tea. Bring water to a boil, add the roselle, and let seep 5 minutes or more. Drink and enjoy your fresh, tangy tea with a hint of sweet.
Roselle can also be enjoyed tossed into salads, chopped into fruit bowls, or stuffed with cheeses.
