These are fresh turmeric rhizomes, grown in our greenhouse, started all the way back in February. Turmeric is a powerful medicinal, namely being a natural anti-inflammatory, strong antioxidant, and cancer preventative. Flavor-wise turmeric is always peppery, but ours is complemented with a hint of sweet! Use turmeric in smoothies, soups, stews, sautees, anywhere you would use dried turmeric. Or you could dry your own. Remember, to benefit most from its health properties, consume along with pepper and oil.
Turmeric stores very well, best in a breathable bag. Excess humidity could cause it to mold, while relatively warm temperatures of 50 degrees is ideal. Rhizomes can also be frozen and grated as needed.
